How do I create a tab?
A tab keeps your group’s expenses together in Quicksplit. Give it a name, choose a currency, and add the people you’re splitting with.
Quick steps
Tap Create Tab → Enter details → Add members → Add expenses
Step 1: set up your tab
Choose a name and currency for your tab:
- Tap Create Tab in the app
- Enter a tab name (e.g., Weekend Trip, Dinner Party)
- Choose your currency
- Pick a color and icon to personalize your tab
- Tap Create
Make your tab easy to find
Pick a name you’ll recognize, like Weekend Trip or Apartment Bills. A color and icon can help you find it too.
Step 2: add your group
Now add the people who'll be splitting expenses:
Add friends by name
- • Add friends by name (no app needed)
- • These entries are called placeholder members
- • They can take over when they join later
Invite friends to join
- • Share your tab's QR code or link
- • Friends can scan the QR code or tap the link
Step 3: start adding expenses
Once your group is added, you can:
- Add expenses as they happen
- Split costs among group members
- See each person’s balance as expenses are added
- Invite more people anytime
Change your tab’s settings
Appearance
Change your tab's name, color, and icon anytime in settings.
Currency
Choose the currency for your tab’s totals. You can still add expenses in other supported currencies.
Add your first expense
Enter what was paid, who paid it, and who’s sharing the cost. Quicksplit will work out the balances.
