How do I use Quicksplit?

Quicksplit keeps track of shared expenses and works out who owes what. Start by creating or joining a tab:

Create a tab → Add expenses → See who owes what → Settle up

Step 1: create or join a tab

A tab is a private space for your group’s shared expenses. Create one for a trip, your home, or anything you’re splitting together.

Create a new tab

• Tap Create Tab in the app
• Give your tab a name (e.g., Paris Trip)
• Choose your currency, color, and icon
• Start adding expenses

Join an existing tab

• Scan the QR code or tap the joining link
• If someone has already added you by name, take over that placeholder member. Otherwise, join as a new member
• Start adding your expenses

Step 2: add expenses

For each expense, record what you paid and who’s sharing the cost:

Tap Add Payment
Enter the amount and currency
Add a description (for example, Dinner or Taxi)
Choose who paid
Select who should split the cost
Choose how to split it (equally or by custom amounts)
Save the expense

Add expenses as you go

Record an expense while you remember the details. You’ll have less to check when it’s time to settle up.

Adding friends who haven’t joined yet

You can add friends by name before they download Quicksplit. These entries are called placeholder members:

How it works

• Add a placeholder member for each of your friends (they don't need the app)
• Split expenses with them as usual
• They can take over their placeholder when they join
• All expense history transfers automatically

To keep expenses already recorded for you, take over your placeholder when you first join. If you join as a new member, you can’t transfer another member’s expense history to your account.

Step 3: track & settle

Quicksplit works out everyone’s balance and suggests who should pay whom. Send the money using your usual payment method, then record it in Quicksplit.
