How do I use Quicksplit?

Quicksplit makes splitting expenses simple. Here's how to get started:

🎯 Quick Start

Create a tab → Add expenses → See who owes what → Settle up!

Step 1: Create or Join a Tab

A "tab" is a private group to track expenses with your friends. You can create one or join an existing tab:

🆕 Create a New Tab

  • • Tap "Create Tab" in the app
  • • Give your tab a name (e.g., "Paris Trip")
  • • Choose your currency, color, and icon
  • • Start adding expenses!

🔗 Join an Existing Tab

  • • Scan the QR code or tap the joining link
  • • Choose to take over a placeholder member or join as a new member
  • • Start adding your expenses

Step 2: Add Expenses

Adding expenses is simple:

  1. Tap "Add Payment"
  2. Enter the amount and currency
  3. Add a description (e.g., "Dinner", "Uber")
  4. Choose who paid
  5. Select who should split the cost
  6. Choose how to split it (equally or by custom amounts)
  7. Save!

💡 Pro Tip

Add expenses as you go rather than trying to remember everything later. It's much easier and more accurate!

Placeholder Members

Start tracking expenses immediately, even if your friends don't have the app yet:

👥 How It Works

  • • Add a placeholder member for each of your friends (they don't need the app)
  • • Split expenses with them as usual
  • • They can take over their placeholder when they join
  • • All expense history transfers automatically

The only way to transfer expense history from another member is by taking over a placeholder member when you first join the tab. If you join as a new member, you can't transfer expense history from someone else.

Step 3: Track & Settle

Quicksplit automatically calculates who owes what and suggests the easiest way to settle up.

  • • View suggested transfers
  • • Mark the transfers as sent
  • • You can still add more expenses after settling the tab's current balance
